Mission Peaceable: Seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism

Alternative Dispute Resolution, commonly known as an ADR, serves as a vital tool in the court system. It assists in resolving disputes amicably among parties in a quicker and cost-effective way.

One of the avenues for access to justice is the Barangay Justice System, a community-based dispute mechanism administered by the basic political unit – the Barangay- that generally covers disputes among residents of the same city or municipality. Disputes not resolved in the Barangay level are filed with the Courts.

In promoting Peace and Conflict Resolution/Prevention, the Rotary Club of Tiger Mandaluyong conducted an information dissemination activity entitled “Mission Peaceable: Seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms held on August 23, 2024, 10:00 am, at Barangay Addition Hills Hall, Mandaluyong City.

Past President Jonathan O. Sarte of Rotary Club of Mandaluyong Premier, a lawyer by profession and an accredited Court of Appeals Mediator, was invited to share his knowledge on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, particularly on mediation and conciliation proceedings.

100 participants composed of Barangay officers, VAWC officers and Bantay bata representatives of Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong, attended the seminar. Participants were selected by the Office of Barangay Captain Carlito Cernal.
