Irresistible President’s Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am pleased to present to you the 5th Issue of SIKLAB for Rotary Year 2024-2025.
In years past, the first birthday of a child was reason to celebrate. With modern technology and medical science still not having experienced the strides they have today, it was indeed an accomplishment for both parents and their baby to simply be alive. Hence the commemoration of the first year birthday. This practice has been carried over from days past. The same can be said of a newly formed Rotary Club.
My heart is filled with happiness, spirit and pride in celebrating RC Tiger Mandaluyong’s 1st natal anniversary with the good fortune of this coinciding during my term as President this magical year. Following a line from a song, “…what a journey it has been…”
To others, being a Club President once, is an experience where most will declare, “once is enough.” To others, “love seems to be better the second time around. So nasaan ka love?
Kidding aside, it is with an open mind, open arms and emboldened spirit, with my experience as a Champion President and the ever present counsel of my Champion Governor Nelson Aspe that I go “where destiny awaits,” in the words of Filipino Statesman Carlos P. Romulo, with confidence in meeting the future together with my magic club team.
Out path has yet to be written by our actions in the present. Please continue helping me chart the course where, “Service Above Self,” leads. Please join me in taking more than the safe baby steps often associated with yearlings. Dream big and let’s take bigger strides as we tread the road toward “growing up,” with its share of success and challenges that bring about learning by embracing both.
In some ways, Rotary has changed like much of the world after the Pandemic of 2020. Changed for the good, I like to believe. And yet in some way, Rotary stays the same in our challenge to help make this world one that is kinder. One that is better than when we first entered it. Change like Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is inevitable. I choose to make that impact positive.
To my fellow Rotarian explorers who heeded the call and joined me in undertaking what American Poet Robert Frost called “the path less travelled by,” my deep thanks for “‘making all the difference.” You know what we’ve been through Please stand to be be acknowledged. I could not have done this without your support and commitment.
Thank you for having confidence and trust in me as I leave my former self akin to a caterpillar leaving the safety of its cocoon to soar as a butterfly high into the sky with my new Club and my new team, in the process bringing the magic of Rotary where it is needed most.
This month has been very productive for our club, filled with significant projects, strengthening membership and expanding our reach to serve the community.
